The Literary Circus, Asheville’s only all-writer irreverent group of wordsmithing women, will perform “Flying Clothes and Prose” featuring literary vignettes about clothes from their past lives or the depths of their closets (or from the attics of their fringe-y friends). They’ll explore ways that clothing defined them or a life moment–or wish their wardrobe had. While sharing flash fiction and poetry, the trio Alli Marshall, Randi Janelle, and Jennifer Fulford will undertake a change-artist’s act, swapping clothes from one spoken-word piece to the next. Yes, the articles will fly (a, an, the) but all in good PG fashion. Joining the group will be musician and magician Jason Smith of Night’s Bright Colors to add to the circus-y mood and mayhem. Expect balloons! Boas! Wigs! Dependent clauses! (wait for it…) Dramatic
pauses. And, maybe even a hula hoop.
